I know I may be a year late, but you know what they say better later than never. When it comes to Edward Sharpe and the MZ’s I am glad it wasn’t a never situation. This song is from their 2009 LP “Up from Below” the song is called “home”. As soon as I heard the simple yet cheerful lyrics over a old western bounce I was captivated. There’s a break down at 3:14 that most definitely makes this a memorable song. To the one that showed it to me <3... Enjoy.

Though I haven’t had much time to do a write up today, I did come across a video I absolutely fell in love with. Besides having an incredible album, Danger Mouse and James Mercer a.k.a Broken Bells, have seem to put imagery in all their videos that compliment their music (which is rare to find nowadays). Cubes Gets Down: “DRx”<<

When Going thrfting, Old clothes can make you feel like a new person. Why? You ask. It could possibly be because some styles will always remain iconic and timeless. One man who has understood this concept for the past 13 years is Darren Romanelli a.k.a Dr Romanelli, taking classic styles and revamping them with an eclectic twist has given this designer much respect and recognition amongst his peers. Having countless collaborations with larger brands such as Nike, Levis, Disney, Converse and Looney Tunes has made this designer world renown. Romanelli got his start in college while attending the University of Oregon, being on a student budget didn’t allow the Dr to buy the finest fabrics. These monetary restraints pushed him to become regular at the local Thrift store. Unknowing that his obsession with vintage clothing would become the platform for his success he continued to add to his collection. Now a Full-fledged designer his work can be seen on celebrities and in various music videos. If you’re balling on a budget, save your pennies before you think about grabbing a leather flight jacket, its probably going to run you in the thousands, which is well worth it when you’re looking for a limited piece to wear out. Cubes Gets Down: “Boardwalk Empire”

It’s not TV, its what you pay for every month to get your fix of Entourage, Hung, Bored to Death, Flight of the Concords and my personal favorite East Bound and Down. With such a long list of well written shows and a history of having one of the best Family mob dramas on television, it’s no wonder they’ve decided with their new Pilot “Boardwalk Empire” to go big or go home. Produced by the one and only Martin Scorsese and Created by Terence Winter the Emmy-winning writer for the Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire takes place in Atlantic City at the top of the prohibition era 1920. You know what that means? A whole lot of action, drinking, fighting and any other vice’s these bootleggers had. The Show Premiers On Sept. 19th (Happy Birthday to me) at 10 p.m. on the HBO network. This is something Definitely worth roll one up to (in the name of prohibition lol) and staying in for. Heres a link to the HBO web site for more info “Boardwalk Empire”

Cubes Gets Down : “13thWitness X Rusko”<<<<

Thats right, sorry “Deadmau5″ fans. This is a Rusko post, but don’t report us for lighting this one up. Rusko, if you don’t know by now is a British Dub-step Dj/Producer who is dominating the new subculture’s scene. The video is directed by  13thewitness one of my favorite directors. It takes place in the Chicago festival Lollapalooza (Sad I did not Attend this year) on the Belvedere sponsored stage, with Rusko performing to a sea of people all getting wild to the out of hand baselines of Dub-Step. Rusko has to be one of the most genuine Djs currently  doing live performances around the world, he seems to have a great connection to his fans and all people that aren’t busy…ya know…Snitching lol. We are all influenced by the company we keep, from humor to fashion. So its no wonder  how celebrities the likes of Kanye , Kid Cudi and Lupe Fiasco manage to stay so fly. Entourage’s are filled with unknown trendsetters who never get the credit they deserve. Ibn Jasper seems to be changing that. The spotlight has been flashing on Ibn for a good amount of time and now with the release of Lupe Fiascos Collab Clothing line (along with Ibn) “Trilly and Truly” we’re going the spolight shine. Sufjan Stevens – EP

After the release of the highly lauded album Illinois and the chart-topping single “CHICAGO”. Fans have been anticipating Steven’s next move. Upon announcing his upcoming tour several weeks ago, new material was sure to follow. Boy, did Sufjan Stevens deliver with ALL DELIGHTED PEOPLE. Although, this is an EP it may very well end up being my favorite “album” of the year. After a rough week I needed my spirits to be lifted and Stevens delivered. Occasionally, an album comes along at the most opportune of times. Personally, this is that album and this is that time.

Here’s some incredible, new Cee-Lo called “F*CK YOU”.  With a fun little video to back it up Cee-Lo Green has the incredible & uncanny knack of putting a smile on my face regardless of what he is singing.

Cee-Lo has caught my immediate attention this summer with the surprise release of his mixtape, STRAY BULLETS, and the Band of Horses’ cover “NO ONE IS GONNA LOVE YOU”. I am a huge fan of the direction Cee-Lo is taking his appropriately named project, LADY KILLER, set to release early October 2010. With Big Boi, Andre 3000, and now Cee-Lo all back on the scene it can’t help but transport me back to the long summer days at the pool, ballin at the park, and hating “that girl” with my boys all over again.
